Tabatinga sits at one of the most unique locations in South America. Here, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru meet within a region where rivers often matter more than national borders. The research team is investigating how remote communities access healthcare and how environmental changes affect disease patterns across the basin. As the aircraft approaches the frontier region, the forest remains uninterrupted by political boundaries. To the rainforest, countries do not exist. Only rivers, trees, wildlife, and people living among them matter. The team begins to understand that protecting the Amazon requires cooperation far beyond any single nation.
