You're bringing part of the outside world with you.

The cargo door opens and boxes begin coming out.

Fresh vegetables.

Cereal.

Frozen meat.

Mail.

A child's birthday present.

Parts.

Someone jokes about the price of groceries while another person checks whether a package they've been waiting for arrived.

This isn't unusual. It's normal life in rural Alaska.

USPS itself has noted that because most Alaska communities aren't connected by surface roads, mail transportation may involve airplanes and other unconventional transportation.

You eventually close the cargo door.

The airplane suddenly feels empty.

The village doesn't.
