The wilderness beneath you stretches farther than the eye can see.

Alaska's Statewide Aviation division describes aviation as a basic mode of transportation because of the state's immense geography; its rural airport system exists to connect communities across that landscape.

Somewhere below are rivers that become transportation corridors when frozen.

Trails.

Cabins.

Communities separated by distances that would be ordinary elsewhere if only a highway existed.

But it doesn't.

So you keep flying.
