For our annual Christmas Holiday fly-in event this year (2023), you will by flying a group of keen festive shoppers to the historic Nuremberg Christmas Market (and then flying them out again when they truly have "shopped until they've dropped" - who know's maybe to another nearby German Christmas Market?). The Nuremberg Christmas Market is also known as the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt and is one of the most famous and traditional Christmas markets in Germany. It is held annually in the city of Nuremberg, Bavaria, and has a history dating back several centuries.
For those that enroll to Aeroconomy, this special event will pay out a Christmas bonus of $5000 (or $8000 if you are a premium member) to your personal pilot account to help kick-start you in our new (optional) economy platform!
The Nuremberg Christmas Market traces its origins to the 16th century, making it one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. It has a rich history and has evolved over the centuries, maintaining its cultural and traditional significance.
The market typically opens in late November and runs until December 24th, Christmas Eve. The opening ceremony is a notable event, featuring the official prologue given by the Christkind, a traditional Christmas gift-bringer figure in German-speaking countries.
The Nuremberg Christmas Market is unique for having the Christkind as its official representative. The Christkind is a young angelic figure who opens the market with a prologue, setting the festive tone for the season. The Christkind is portrayed by a local girl chosen for this role through a traditional selection process.
The market is situated in the heart of Nuremberg's Old Town, and its layout is characterized by rows of festively decorated stalls. The stalls offer a variety of goods, including traditional Christmas decorations, crafts, ornaments, toys, and gifts.
Nuremberg is renowned for its Lebkuchen, a type of gingerbread, and Nürnberger Rostbratwurst, a small, thin sausage that is a local specialty. These items are popular among visitors, and the market provides an opportunity to sample and purchase them.
The market is beautifully adorned with festive decorations, including lights, ornaments, and Christmas trees. The atmosphere is enhanced by the aroma of roasted almonds, mulled wine (Glühwein), and other seasonal treats.
The Nuremberg Christmas Market attracts visitors from around the world who come to experience its historic charm, unique traditions, and the magical atmosphere of the holiday season.
