Story: The flight back toward Kenya feels different—quieter, but not in the same way as before. She isn’t distant. Just thinking. “Most pilots rotate out before this part,” she says. You glance over. “What part?” She gestures vaguely ahead. “The part where it stops feeling new.” You nod. “And starts feeling normal?” She shakes her head. “No.” A pause. “It never feels normal.” You look out at the terrain below. “Then what is it?” She takes a moment to answer. “…Familiar.” Another pause. “Reliable.” Then she looks over at you. “That’s harder to find than you think.”
