2017 Qantas announces 'Project Sunrise' to fly non-stop from east coast Australia to London, Paris, Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro and New York. In 2019 Qantas made 2 test flights in Boeing B787-9 lasting 19-20 hours London to Sydney but chose the Airbus A350-1000 with a third centre fuel tank for the project. Flights should commence in 3rd quarter of 2026. During the flight passengers should be able to enjoy 2 sunrises. Sydney > London, New York. (Current longest is Singapore to New York).
