Southwest of Sanity is a virtual airline that exists just outside the boundaries of good judgment. Born from a failed human-factors experiment that proved confidence could sometimes substitute for procedure, it operates familiar aircraft, routes, and liveries that look almost right—close enough to be comforting, wrong enough to be concerning.
The crews are capable, the planes are cooperative, and the passengers are people who decided not to ask too many questions. Flights usually arrive as planned, sometimes early, and always with applause encouraged. Southwest of Sanity flies not because everything is under control, but because everyone involved has agreed to commit and see how it goes.
