Sparrow Airways is a virtual airline specializing in bush operations, hunting charters, lodge resupply, and seasonal forest service missions throughout Idaho's rugged backcountry. Operating from our hub at McCall (KMYL), we connect hunters, lodges, and remote wilderness locations using any aircraft capable of short strips or backcountry operations, complemented by our regional heavy-lift DC-3 operations.

Fleet & Operations

Bush Aircraft

• Primary aircraft for short strips, remote lodges, and wilderness camps
• Handles:
  • Hunting charters (hunters + gear)
  • Lodge and cabin supply
  • Seasonal fire crew insertions to lookouts
• Examples of suitable aircraft: DHC-2 Beaver, Cessna 185, Cessna 206, Piper Super Cub, Maule M-7, and any other STOL-capable aircraft

Douglas DC-3

• Regional backbone for bulk cargo, hunter positioning, and lodge network supply
• Operates between McCall and regional airports:
  • KBZN (Bozeman)
  • KGPI (Glacier Park)
  • KJAC (Jackson Hole)
  • KBOI (Boise)
• Never operates at tiny bush strips; acts as the hub middleman for bush aircraft

Fire & Specialized Ops

• Seasonal missions to fire lookout strips (Big Baldy, Danskin, Deadwood, etc.)
• Aircraft: any short-strip capable bush plane
• Summer-only operations for forest service contracts and emergency support

Seasonal Flow

• Spring: Lodge resupply, prep flights for summer ops
• Summer: Fishing charters, lodge support, fire ops, optional floatplane operations
• Fall: Hunting charters peak, meat and antler haul-outs
• Winter: Limited bush ops; ski lodge charters, DC-3 cargo if snow-free
