You’ve gathered your friends, you’ve had lunch, you’ve visited some untouched wilderness, and you’ve made your final preparations. It’s time now to make your final leg of the adventure. Well, at least to get there. You’re on your own making your way back!
This is the shortest leg of the trip at just about 10 nautical miles from Milford Sound Airport to Quintin Lodge Airstrip, but by no means will it be the easiest. In fact, it’s likely to be the most treacherous of them all.
You’ll be traveling along the Arthur River within a very narrow valley with mountain peaks upwards of 6,500 feet (1981m) surrounding you. There is zero room for error.
Just maneuvering your way into the valley may prove to be challenging enough. But then you have to find and land at the Quintin Lodge airstrip 10 miles into the twisting valley with no easy way out.
Ultimately, your choice of aircraft is completely up to you. So, how do you want to do this?
With that said, if you make it safely into Quintin Lodge, then you will be handsomely rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding rainforest and nearby waterfalls, including Sutherland Falls, a 1,904-foot (580-meter) waterfall that was once believed to be New Zealand’s tallest.
Oh, and you’ll be able to enjoy a well-deserved vacation with your friends. That was the whole point of the trip in the first place, right? It’s been a while since you’ve had such a relaxing time.
Have fun!
Note: This achievement was created in celebration of the Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update XII - New Zealand release, but you may complete the flight in any simulator of your choice!
