The Ushuaia Aeroclub is a public-use airport serving Ushuaia, a city in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
The Aeroclub previously served as the main airport for the city of Ushuaia before the opening of the new Ushuaia–Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (SAWH/USH) in 1995, whose east-west runway is just 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) directly south of the Aeroclub's runway (SAWO).
The airport (now Aeroclub De Ushuaia) is notorious for pilots having to make sharp turns during landings. A video of an AerolĂneas Argentinas Boeing 737-200 attempting to land at the airport has gone viral. Images of planes crashing while attempting to land have also gone viral. The sharp left turn is required to land at the aeroclub and has been compared to Kai Tak Airport.
Take off from your chosen airport and land on runway 16 at Ushuaia Naval Air Base (SAWO). Landing speeds must not exceed -200 ft/min. You may use the Ushuaia Airport VOR (SAWH/USH) as a reference. 113.7 USU. You must fly a minimum of 50 nm.
