On 12 July 2000, a voyager pilot decided to perform a scientific experiment and fly with extended gears. This experiment proved to the world that flying with extended gears has, in fact, the consequence of requiring a lot more fuel to get to your destination. So much that they were required not only to divert but also to finish the flight in a no-power glide. For unknown reasons, the voyager pilot was not awarded a nobel prize for this discovery.
This voyager flight is often mischaracterized as “Hapag-Lloyd Flight 3378” by mainstream media. Fly this route again, gear up.
