When Voyager pilots find themselves out of fuel at FL410, we glide. And we glide well, so well that the aircraft stays in service after such incidents. This was observed on July 23, 1983, when a collection of errors including a bad unit conversion resulted in a flight that ran out of fuel mid-flight.
This voyager flight is often mischaracterized as “Air Canada Flight 143” by mainstream media. Fly this route again, but only sensible units when doing fuel planning.
