Word has got out about the skill of Jersey pilots. The Norwegian authorities have asked that we help them out due to lack of skills of their pilots. We are tasked with delivering Covid vaccines which, due to sudden outbreaks of the disease, are urgently required. However....to put the cat amongst the pigeons, so to speak, or, more likely, to put the Jersey pilot into orbit, they have asked if we can deliver a consignment of Nitro to a mining community. Due to the short flights, especially the delivery of the Nitro to ENEJ we have been given a Britten Norman Islander to use. There are restrictions on this flight, due to the volatile nature of the explosive, and the fragile nature of the Covid phials, we restricted to an altitude of 3000 feet, and a landing rate of 150 fpm. ENEJ is a grass strip by the side of the river, distinguishable bye the shed at the end and a sandy coloured square. You may need to fly round to check, but watch your altitude. Come in over the shed and keep low and slow close to the square. After you touch down there is a massive hollow so be very careful.The landing rate is what counts, what happens after touchdown doesn't matter. It looks difficult, it IS difficult, but I have done it in the islander with a lrm of 131. Its a short hop, so if it goes wrong, its not a major problem. If you complete the achievement, you will receive a bonus of £1000. Good luck.....and watch that altitude !!!
