Not for the squeamish this one !!!! You have been contacted to take the famous Sir David Attenborough, who has just arrived at Christchurch Airport, to Westport, where he will meet up with the famous Maori, Dr Eruera Pūkorokoro. you will then take them on to Nelson Airport, where Sir David and his companion, will go into the scrub and try to collect a sample of the Nelson Cave Spider. These spiders can achieve a body size of three inches, and five inch long legs !!! Once they return, hopefully with the spider safely contained in a box, you will fly them to Paraparaumu. You passengers will depart, hopefully with the spider safely within its box. As Sir David is staying here for a while with Dr Pūkorokoro, you will then pick up another passenger who needs to get to Napier Airport. Once your passenger has disembarked, you will find a Maori Tribal Elder waiting for you to take him to Wanganui, where he will be attending the Matariki, which is late this year due to the covid epidemic. Matariki marks the start of the Māori New Year. It is traditionally held mid-winter (in June) when the cluster of stars known as the Pleiades (i.e. Matariki) comes into view. Traditionally, Matariki was a time when families (whanau) came together to remember their ancestors and their past while also celebrating the new lives of the present. Festivals are held nationwide and may include cultural performances, kite flying events as well as fireworks showcases.
