Aotearoa 06 NZMC to NZPL

This is a virtual airline achievement created by Fliggity Air.

The Mount Cook aerodrome is a small airport near Mount Cook Village. They don’t actually have regular passenger service anymore due to lack of demand but the area is very picturesque as it’s located in the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park at the end of State Highway 80 only 15km from the summit of the country’s highest mountain. I hope you brought some snacks because the closest supermarket is 65km away.

Directions: Leave NZMC heading south over Lake Pukaki until you reach the south end of the lake to waypoint PSPIY and NZ State Highway 8 heading east. Follow the highway eastward, keeping the lake to your left and continuing on to waypoint BPASS. The town of Geraldine is due east from here but there is a large mountain in the way that you’ll need to circumvent; take your pick of either a north or south route as they will both get you where you need to go. Once over Geraldine, turn northeast and cross the Orari River; when you reach the Rangitata River at waypoint APONS turn left in a northerly direction. Follow the river as it runs north and then west-northwest towards Mount Harper. Continue along the river as it takes you to the approach into NZPL.

Depart from NZMC, fly to and land at NZPL (35 NM). Your aircraft must not exceed an altitude of 4,500 ft (ASL).
