The original island hopper was launched in 1968 as Air Micronesia under Continental Airlines With B727s. United now flies the route after the merger with Continental in 2012. Currently United flight 154 flies from Honolulu to Guam while flight 155 does the return trip using Boeing B737-800s. Each flight is crewed with 4 pilots. At most airports firetrucks are at the ready to hose and cool brakes and tires due to short runways. Total flight time one way averages 16 hours and passengers are allowed to deplane and reboard at every stop except PKWA Kwajalein which is a US military base. At Guam passengers can connect with the 'Manila Hopper' that flies to Manila via Koror, Palua. Honolulu Hawaii > Majuro Atoll Marshall Islands.
