USAF Plant 42/Palmdale [KPMD] > Reid Internationa/Las Vegas [KLAS] (168 NM)

Plant 42 is largely dedicated to the building and maintenance of American military aircraft. The base is also used for "black projects", with a Lockeed Skunkworks facility (along with other contractors) on site. The site's had an airfield on it since the early 1930's with the US Army taking over in 1940. They've built a lot of flying things here, most notably the space shuttle orbiters and the SR-71 Blackbird, among others. Additionally, the site's near the location of one of the more amusing incidents of The Cold War, the "Battle of Palmdale", in which a US navy target drone went on walkabout and the US Air Force failed spectacularly to shoot it down - check it out: Battle of Palmdale

Criteria

Depart from KPMD, fly to and land at KLAS (168 NM). Your landing rate must not exceed 700 f/m.

You will be awarded XP 150 for completing this achievement.
