[STREAM] Flight of the Bremen Flight 2024

The Bremem 2024

In 1928 three adventurers took to the sky in a Junkers W33 aircraft called the Bremen. They took off from Baldonnel Aerodrome in County Dublin and made their way to North America. It was the first transatlantic flight from east to west with a fixed-wing aircraft. The flight took 36 hours from start to finish after the crew experience some issues with navigation and the aircraft.

In 2003 the Irish Air Corps along with the German Air Force launched a memorial flight to honour the Bremen crew for its 75th anniversary.

In 2021 the Fireflies re-enacted this flight in MSFS and each year we take to the skies to mark the occasion.

This year as we mark our 4th anniversary flight, the route will consist of 4 x legs with one being completed each week.

Starting on Friday April 12 we will complete a single leg of the flight and over the next 4 weeks we will complete this mini-series and finish on May 3rd - the day after the crew were awarded the United States Distinguished Flying Cross by President Calvin Coolidge.

The aircraft chosen for these flights: (as always - you can fly anything you'd like - the below list is just the aircraft I will focus on with setup, systems, and flying)

The route chosen for this year has one slight change: EIME - BIKF* - BGBW* - CYYR* - CYBX - CYYR* ( * = full stop landings)

FireFly Air Achievement

But thats not all! Each leg will be flown and streamed live each week but will also require some supporting flights.

These "ferry flights" will be achievements set up on FireFly Air with a new challenge available that will require the movement of certain aircraft (alternative aircraft will be announced) from one location to another - and some special requirements may apply. The idea here is to offer our FFA pilots some routes that will have enhanced XP available to earn.
